Victim support services

Our team of professionals consists of volunteer lawyer. When necessary, via phone, face-to-face interview or seminar, he / she will provide victims with information on criminal or civil proceedings, including explanation of legal documents, filling in and submission of relevant forms. This aims to help victims understand their rights, and make proper decisions.

Our volunteers and staff will accompany the victims throughout the judicial process, such as when they are involved in police investigation, relevant follow-ups, and attending court hearings.

Court environment and procedures are introduced to victims through simulation and briefing so as to relieve their anxieties.

Our volunteers or staff would accompany victims to locate and access relevant community services so as to provide assistance in facing life changes, including house rental, financial and in-kind support, clinic visits and scheduled medical consultation, application for school admission, short-term school escorts, and child day care services, etc.


Childcare

Home visits are conducted to help victims' adjustment to life, to assess home safety and daily caring skills of the victims so that suitable training and guidance could be provided.

Our volunteers or staff give on-site practice guidance. This helps enhance the victims' ability in life adjustment, to perform housework, to take care of themselves and their family members.


Home visit services

Our clinical psychology services include assessment and treatment. By means of interviews, questionnaires and behavioural observation, clinical psychologist gives detailed analysis on referred cases regarding the nature of the problem, background information, recurring incentives, etc. Evidence-based psychotherapy is applied in response to the victims' psychological needs. The aim of psychotherapy is to help victims understand the framework of their perceptions and their emotional responses so as to derive positive ways to relieve emotional disturbances, to learn personal growth and social skills.

Besides, clinical psychologist will also conduct regular volunteer training courses , talks/groups on emotional health for the community to introduce ways to manage emotion, to promote family cohesion and to restore interpersonal relationship.

Po Leung Kuk Family Crisis Support Service Clinical Psychology Service

Objective:Provide a safe and comfortable environment where children exposed to domestic violence can meet their father / mother; help them rebuild / maintain good communication and contact in order to enhance parent-child relationship.

Service contents: Provide a safe and comfortable environment, facilities for visitors to meet their children such as interview room and children's play room.

To strengthen support to the children serving as witnesses in criminal proceedings, the Social Welfare Department in cooperation with the Police has set up the Witness Support Programme in which support persons would be arranged to accompany the child witnesses who have to testify in court through a live television link system.

The Police would make the request for support persons to the Social Welfare Department. Upon receiving notification of the request from the Social Welfare Department, Tsui Lam Centre would assign our volunteers or staff to be support persons.
